Haiti Update
We are trying to keep people updated on all of the developments from Haiti. The Sisters of St. Margaret website has the most recent information as well as information on how to donate.

July Status

The barrels arrived on July 2nd. The items sent are very helpful. Sr. Kethia is already distributing some. We are sending some of the hospital items to Maison de Naissance at Torbeck. It is one of the diocese's health institutions. It is in a remote place too many women died of child birth. Some of the baby clothings will also go there also.

Sr. Kethia, the residents at Foyer Notre Dame and I are well. Sr. Kethia and I are busy getting things in place before we go to Boston on July 27th. We go to the DR before that for a healing conference to help us deal with the post earthquake.

Again thank you for everything. We are most grateful to all of you who worked so hard to collect and pack these ballels and the cost. Thank you for the prayers.

In God's love,

Marie Margaret, SSM.

Haiti Project

The Church of the Holy Trinity in West Chester has made a major on-going commitment to support the work of the Sisters of St. Margaret, especially with their work in Haiti. An Order of Episcopal Nuns, the Sisters of St. Margaret have had had a mission in Haiti since 1927. Haiti is one of the world's poorest countries, and the least developed country in the Americas.

Holy Trinity has joined an effort initiated by The Greater Philadelphia Area Associates and Friends of the Sisters of St. Margaret to ship containers of badly needed supplies to Haiti. A typical container contains food items, items for personal hygiene, first aid supplies, school supplies, and children's and adult clothing. Items vary according to the most pressing needs at a given time. The containers are 42" high and 27" in diameter, and it takes a month or so for them to travel from West Chester to the Convent in Port-au-Prince. It costs $130.00 to ship each one. Our shipper calls us to report that the containers have been delivered to the Convent, and Sr. Marie Margaret sends a confirming e-mail, so we know that everything has been safely delivered, a joy both to the Sisters who receive them and to us. It is humbling to be able to share in the Sisters' ministry in our own small way.
