Welcome to the Music Ministry of Church of the Holy Trinity!

Making music to the glory of God is a fundamental part of our congregational identity.  Through our choirs and instrumental ensembles, worship services and musical events, music is a cornerstone of our worship, enriches our Christian formation, and forms a major part of our outreach to the wider community.

If you are interested in getting involved, or have any questions, please email our Minister of Music, Andrew Hauze, at music@htrinitywc.com

CHOIRS AND ENSEMBLES

CHANCEL CHOIR

See our Lent-June 2010 Choir Brochure! (2010-2011 brochure coming soon!)

The Chancel Choir, directed by Minister of Music Andrew Hauze, offers up to God vocal music from across the centuries - from the Renaissance to the present day. Generally, the choir sings at least one anthem a week, and our repertoire varies enormously: one week we might sing a Palestrina motet, the next week an African-American spiritual, and the next an anthem by Vaughan Williams. Rehearsals are concentrated and are very rewarding; we learn a great deal and have a lot of fun in the process. The ability to carry a tune and hear a pitch is required, though there is no formal audition.

Rehearsals are on Thursday nights from 7:30 to 9:30, and Sunday mornings from 9:30 AM through the end of the 10:30 AM church service, from September to mid-June.

If you are interested in joining the Chancel Choir, please contact Andrew at 610-696-4640, x.17, or music@htrinitywc.com.

HANDBELL CHOIR

The Handbell Choir rings beautiful music to the glory of God once a month at the 10:30 service, thanks to the enthusiastic dedication of Handbell Choir Director Elaine Cumens. The Handbell Choir rehearses on Monday evenings from 6:45-8:15 PM, and on the job training is provided. Ringing handbells is a musical experience unlike any other, encouraging teamwork and lots of fun! If you are interested in joining, please contact Elaine Cumens at 610-436-5290.

CHILDREN'S CHOIR

The Children's Choir, directed by Rosalie Jerrehian, is comprised of children (of both genders) from first through sixth grade who present an anthem every 4-6 weeks. The Children's Choir rehearses from 9:00 to 9:30 AM each Sunday before Church School. This is a great way to learn to sing with others and to study the fundamentals of music. The group sings lots of fun and spiritually uplifting music, and all are welcome to come and give it a try!

PSALM 150: Holy Trinity’s Multi-generational Instrumental Ensemble

2010 saw the debut of Psalm 150, our new instrumental ensemble.  Psalm 150 rehearses for short periods throughout the year, to prepare a special piece to offer at the 10:30 worship service.  The music is written especially for the members of the group, so that everyone (no matter what the instrument) has a fun part to play.  It is an intergenerational group, with members of all ages, from 5th grade onward.

If you are interested in becoming a part of Psalm 150, please contact Andrew Hauze.

Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty firmament!

Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his surpassing greatness!

Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp!

Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe!

Praise him with clanging cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals!

Let everything that breathes praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!

(Psalm 150)

OTHER MUSICAL OPPORTUNITIES

In addition to our choirs and ensembles, there are many other musical opportunities in worship.  We frequently host guest soloists from West Chester University, as well as talented youth musicians from the community.  Almost every Sunday at 10:30 there is either a vocal solo (or small group), instrumental solo, or other special musical offering.  A primary goal of the music ministry is to nurture and develop the musical gifts of all members to the glory of God, and the variety of gifts is truly splendid!
